We are in the process of planning our 10th Anniversary of the Kids in Action Youth Conference for December, 2010. This year's youth conference will showcase Long Island 'kids in action' - local teens who took a charitable, altruistic idea and made it into a reality! Throughout the year we plan and seek opportunities to educate, inspire and motivate our local middle schoolers so that they can become productive members of our Long Island work force.

SMALL BUSINESS & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TASK FORCE
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT TASK FORCE
THURSDAY, MARCH 12TH ♦ 9-11 AM
We will meet with community leaders and legislators to develop our Economic Initiative to boost the economy and create jobs, particularly, manufacturing jobs on Long Island.
HOUSING & DEVELOPMENT TASK FORCE TUESDAY, MARCH 16TH ♦ 9-10 AM We will continue development of our April “Need a Place to Live?” Conference, grow our database of young adults to support local housing projects, study proposed development projects, and the subcommittees will report.
HEALTHCARE TASK FORCE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17TH ♦ 9-10AM We will continue development of our LI Wellness Challenge and plan the May kick-off event. We will review our position on Federal Healthcare Reform and the subcommittees will report.
TRANSPORTATION TASK FORCE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24TH ♦8:30-10:00 AM We will debrief our “Financing Long Island’s Transportation Future” Event, and continue to report on the progress of re-opening of the LIRR station at Republic Airport, construction progress on Route 110 between the Long Island Expressway and the Northern State Parkway and the planned construction on Route 347; MTA takeover of the Nassau and Suffolk County bus systems.
ENVIRONMENTAL & ENERGY THURSDAY, MARCH 25TH♦8:30-10:00 AM We will debrief our February “Power” on Long Island Event and begin work on our Energy Industry Economic Initiative. We will also continue to implement paper recycling programs for local businesses and the subcommittees will report.
